frilled block-printed crop top
This clothing came out of a project after reading Lara Maiklem's 'Mudlarking'.
I went to university on the banks of the River Thames, and one afternoon while walking we found a smooth section of cream pottery with a quarter of a heraldic crest. Since then I've been enchanted by the slow and quiet figures of mudlarkers on the river's edges - there is something of a pilgrimage about the loneliness of them, the intense focus, the lottery of the water, and what it gives up - coins, garnets, rings, shoes, bones.
I carved fifteen lino blocks of mudlarkers treasure, which are hand-printed on these second hand clothing items, using Speedball ink.
Comes with a card detailing the inspiration for the blocks.
Heat-treated, resilient to wear.
Hand wash in cool water.
